| | Number of existing businesses served by providing substantial services (incentives, referrals, permitting assistance, etc.)ED-Economic Development |
Measure Definition & Importance |
Division employees visit companies to gather information and form relationships that could lead to additional businesses moving to Fort Worth. We also help small businesses who receive assistance from the partners located at the Business Assistance Center (BAC). The services provided at the BAC will help cultivate the next generation of entrepreneurs and provide growth opportunites for small businesses. Businesses are able to explore whether they qualify for an incentive to aid in expansion, and we help businesses that need to relocate find a strategic new location. It is important to track our interactions with existing businesses because, while they do not all lead to short term gains in the tax base, they form the foundation for future business decisions. This measure reminds us that it is important to take actions for long term gains and to build relationships that will help the economy in the future.
