The After School Program is an enrichment program for children ages 5 – 13 held at Community Centers from the time of school dismissal until 6:00PM, Monday – Friday. Children are provided a healthy snack, homework assistance and tutoring, and recreational, educational and cultural programs. Some transportation is provided.
The purpose of this service area is to serve all people, including special and vulnerable populations, by creating strong neighborhoods and livable communities. After school programs are correlated with higher graduation rates, lower delinquency and improved self esteem. They also enable parents to more fully participate in the workforce, adding to the economic vibrancy of the community. Enrollment is constant throughout the year. There is no program in June and July. The program in August is shorter and enrollment may be affected. Information is based on past year's enrollment.
