Core internet availability is the measurement of internet availability where our internet vendor's (L3) connectivity reaches our egress point (firewall). It is at this interface that we measure both uptime and utilization to ensure service availability to the rest of the city.
Availability percentage is calculated every hour and then aggregated daily, weekly, and then monthly. This aggregated value represents the proportion of time a service was unavailable to the total time measured. In addition, utilization of the core internet service is measured every 5 minutes and if found to be > 80% for any observed value, will constitute a breach for that day. The singular value we report for this KPI will be an aggregation of core internet availability and utilization over a three month period.
