Measure Definition & Importance |
The Fort Worth Regional Radio System supports more than 45 jurisdictions and organizations as the primary public safety communications system. More than 60 additional agencies access the system for mutual aid only purposes. Because of the coverage area, the number of agencies accessing the system, and the established interoperable communications procedures, the FWRRS has become the primary interop communications tool over much of North Central Texas. The addition of new agencies increases the utility of the system as a regional tool and provides additional revenue opportunities to help offset operating costs. Tracking the effect of new agencies on channel availability will enable the City to plan for growth and make adjustments as necessary to maintain the FWRRS's level of availability and reliability. The goal is to extend use without affecting channel availability.
