Focusing on improving customer service though efficient cash handling, this measure identifies the sections rate of processing payments for court receivables. On average 27%, $6 million, of payments received arrive to court via U.S. mail or electronic payment (based on previous years' activity). These options open up access to court services without the need for citizens to appear in person. Often payments are linked to other court dispositions not just payments in full; for example, deferred dispositions, driver's safety course, time payment plans, and bonds. Effective handling of these payments plays a role in the speed of due process.

Mail is collected from the central mailroom in City Hall twice a day, 9 am and 2 pm. The total pieces of mail received are logged in a report located on: \\Fs100\muncourt\Mailroom\PROCESSED MAIL REPORTS\PROCESSED MAIL. The log includes the number pieces of mail which contained payments for processing, mailed payments processed within 24, 48 and 72 hours. Mailed payments are separated by civil and criminal payments and bundled in groups of 25. Each bundle is tagged and dated to initiate payment procssing. Tags are returned once payments are complete to establish the process rate.
