Measure Definition & Importance |
The Village Creek Water Reclamation Facility (VCWRF) has a permitted, annual average daily flow of 166 mgd, and it receives an average of 110 mgd of wastewater influent. Daily diurnal variation in flow ranges from 85 to 140 mgd. Wet weather events can result in nearly 400 mgd coming into the plant. In order to effectively treat and respond to highly variable flows, equipment must be maintained and ready at all times. Even with substantial redundancy in key equipment, there is little margin for error. The potential health and environmental impacts of equipment failure are significant.
