Risk management changed the information that is being reported out during the last quarter so it is taking some time to decipher the information.
Measure Definition & Importance |
This indicator is an OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration) and AWWA (American Water Works Association) standard benchmark, and it provides a rate of employee days lost from work because of work related illness and injury. The lower the rate, the better the health and safety severity performance.

Data Source Details & Calculation Information |
All data can be obtained from the City payroll system. Total work days away from work because of work related injuries and illness are obtained from absence hours coded as workers comp. Total hours worked by all employees is the sum of hours actually worked by full-time, part-time, temporary and seasonal employees of the department. The total hours worked is obtained by running the
Z_TL_RPTD_TIME_BU query provided by Sarah Gublo in HR. This query pulls the reported time by employee by day for the entire Business Unit for a requested time frame. Risk Management provides the total workdays away from work.
Employee Health and Safety Severity Rate = (200,000 x total workdays away from work)/total hours worked by all employees. (Would like FYTD calculated and evaluated)
