METRIC NOT IN USE Lost time days are the days a worker is unable to work due to an occupational injury or illness. The date of injury is not counted as a day of lost time. Lost time may be intermittent (i.e., not occurring on consecutive days), may be incremental and is cumulative in determining the total number of lost time days away from work for a particular injury or illness.
Lost time days are an important measure of the effectiveness of an employee health and safety program. Claims that result in lost time are generally more serious.
