CODE-EMD responds to compliants having varying degrees of importance to public health and safety, as well as political interest. High-Priority environmental compliants are defined as follows:
- Complaints which allege health effects of any kind;
- Complaints involving facilities of hightened political interest; and
- Complaints involving facilities with a high media interest.
An expedited response is necessary to these High-Priority Environmental Complaints to allow a prompt assessment of health and nuisance condition. Violations may then be addressed and mitgated by the responsible party and appropriate education and/or enforcement action taken.
