Measure Definition & Importance |
This is a measure of the number of dogs and cats altered through Animal Care and Control. These animals are strays and owner surrendered animals that are taken in at the shelter. PetSmart Charities has estimated that in order to reduce the number of unwanted pets in our City, Fort Worth needs an additional 37,000 spay neuter surgeries per year. Increased spay and neuter numbers will result in a decrease in the number of stray animals coming into the shelter.
