Positive mosquito results from our surveillance traps are reported to Consumer Health through two methods. Method 1) Dr. Lee of UNTHSC reports his positive site samples through e-mail once his results are obtained on Thursday mornings. This is reported to the Consumer Health Superintendent and the Mosquito Surveillance Supervisor. Method 2) Tarrant County Public Health reports their lab findings Thursday afternoons by phone call and e-mail. These are reported to the Consumer Health Superintendent and the Mosquito Surveillance Supervisor. Reports of mosquito disease illnesses are received from Tarrant County Public Health by phone to the Consumer Health Superintendent or the Mosquito Surveillance Supervisor. Reports of positive traps are then entered into an excel spreadsheet. This spreadsheet is titled "positive sites" and saved in the CH Senior folder on the FS100/Code Comp server. Each positive sample is recorded on the tab matching the current year. When action is taken, it is recorded in the column title "Action Taken Date" and the action taken is documented and dated. For illnesses the dates of notification is recorded on the same tab matching the current year. When action is taken, it is recorded in the column titled "Action Taken Date" and the action taken is documented and dated. The spreadsheet is maintained by the Sr. CHS reporting to the Mosquito Surveillance Supervisor.
For both positive samples and illness reporting. Confirmation of initiating surveillance can be obtained by comparing the date of receipt to the date of action taken.
To calculate the %. Divide the number of initiations that took longer than 24 hours by the total number of positive samples and illness reports and multiply by 100.
Actual = (# responded to within 24 hours / total # calls)*100
