Measure Definition & Importance |
A main factor to being a self sufficient department is to maintain a high rate of open status. Airport closures can have a detrimental effect on the Department's operating revenue through the loss of fuel flowage and landing fees. Airport closures also affect the ability of the airport tenants to operate their businesses. An open status is defined as the runway and taxiway systems being available for departing and arriving air traffic. The airport plays a vital role for the City by providing safe and secure place to operate aircraft to meet the needs of the flying public. It is important for the airport to maintain an open operational status the majority of the time. Snow, ice, construction, emergency response are types of events that will effect the open status of an airport. We are setting this goal to minimize airport closure status.
