Measure Definition & Importance |
The Aviation Department is responsible for working with Texas Department of Transportation Aviation Division to secure grant funding through the Federal Aviation Administration Airport Improvement Program (AIP). Our Capital Improvement Program identifies the needs and funding priorities for the Airport. As federally obligated airports accepting grant funding, the airports are held to grant assurances that require the airport sponsor to set and maintain rates and charges at current market values. Securing grant funding will enable the department to properly maintain the airports in a condition that allows us to set rates and fees at market value as compared to competing airports in the region and ensures that the airports are as self-sustaining as possible. The target of a $1,000,000 three year average was established because of the fluid nature of the AIP program and the various priorities of the capital improvement program.
