Measure Definition & Importance |
The Library has a uniquely significant and meaningful collection of local history documents, film, newspapers and photographs. Advances in technology allow people to access digitized files from this collection directly fom the Library's web page without having to come into the Central Library. In order to make more of that collection available online, the Library is converting some these physical items in the archival collection into digital format and uploading them to the website. To accomplish this, the Library uses a vendor (Backstage) to scan the documents and create the digital files. Then the Library uploads those files with corresponding descriptions to the Library's webpage so anyone can access them from anywhere. The target for this measure is to increase the number of items digitized in FY2016 by 5% over previous year (based on last year's actual).
