Measure Definition & Importance |
Survey responses and ratings identify if library programs have effective desired outcome to teach the importance of reading to children. Paper surveys are offered to parents after their children attend or participate in a library program; participation is voluntary. One of the questions states: "Library programs contribute to my child's education." Rating response options are: Agree, Undecided or Disagree. The original target of 80% was based on the same target established for the grant that funded some of the programs. No historical data existed to base a target on.

Data Source Details & Calculation Information |
The paper surveys are kept in the Youth Center; Thenisha Smith maintains an Excel Spreadsheet indicating the analysis and calculations for responses. The name of the spreadsheet is "2015 Evaluation Summaries." Thenisha forwards the spreadsheet to Paul Orr and senior management for review and final reporting. Survey is given to parents of children who attend programs; voluntary responses are collected and submitted to Thenisha Smith in the Youth Center. Thenisha tabulates the responses and calculates the rating once for each of the 3 Worth Reading "chapter" period (each "chapter period covers 3 month period that do not always align with Fiscal Year quarters). Thenisha reports findings to Paul Orr and other senior staff. Survey response options are Agree, Undecided or Disagree.
