Measure Definition & Importance |
Mixed-Use areas are characterized by developments that have a combination of revenue producing land-uses that are dense, compatible, and walkable. Mixed-Use developments have many benefits including supporting sustainability and elevated return on investment as a result of the efficient use of infrastructure funding and reduced land consumption. Mixed use is one of the ten principles of Smart Growth, a planning strategy that seeks to foster community design and development that serves the economy, community, public health, and the environment. This measure quantifies the effectiveness of the Comprehensive Plan policies related to prioritizing Mixed-Use Development.
