The Comprehensive Plan is the City of Fort Worth’s official guide for making decisions about growth and development. The Plan is a summary of the goals, objectives, policies, strategies, programs, and projects that will enable the city to achieve its mission of focusing on the future, working together to build strong neighborhoods, develop a sound economy, and provide a safe communities. This measure helps identify effectiveness of implementing Comprehensive Plan land use policies. Zoning is one of the most important ways to implement land use policies. The City Council adopts the Comprehensive Plan with updated future land use maps each year. Each zoning case staff report indicates whether the requested zoning change is consistent with the designated future land use and pertinent land use policies for the affected property. Average is 80% and is an appropriate target since Comp Plan is a guide, and 700 square miles are not reviewed each year.
