Description
Many of the department’s employees do not have clearly defined career paths or easily identifiable professional development goals. Others may have defined career paths without a structured approach to help achieve the professional development necessary to successfully proceed along those career paths. The goal of a Water Department training program is to provide tools and guidance to assist employees and their supervisors in identifying and achieving professional development goals as well as the training required to ensure they have the knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSA) to effectively perform in their current position. A fully developed training program will ensure the KSAs for each job position are identified and further that tools to identify and support professional development for individual employees are available and utilized in a structured manner. It is anticipated that development of a fully functioning training program will be an on-going effort extending over multiple years.
Measurable Outcomes
Improve the utility's ability to ensure compliance with required training and to promote professional development by adopting the VAIRKKO training management platform.  Substantially increase the ability of department leadership to view and understand the state of training compliance and professional development by establishing  a cadence of data reporting. Improve the ability of division/section personnel to implement and actively manage professional development using training roadmaps.
